A couple of weeks ago I went to New York City for a conference. I went by train and arrived back in Atlanta around 9 AM. By the time my daughter brought me home I was ready to crash. After a few minutes I did exactly that. I crawled upstairs to my bedroom and cut the room AC on. I closed the door and cut the fan on to cool the room that had been with NO AC in July in Georgia. Once my hearing aids were out I slept like a dead person.
After 4 hours I awoke hungry and started downstairs. A creature of habit, I glanced to my right and the deck out my French doors. Shock hit! I saw only trees! With each step I expected to learn I wasn’t seeing right. Maybe I was still asleep. Nope. I hurried to look out the French doors and saw the deck on the ground. I won’t repeat the words that escaped my mouth and blistered the air.
Could the deck have fallen while I slept or did I not miss it when I got home?
On a more pleasant note, I signed Georgiana Fields to Gilded Dragonfly Books months ago. She’s my author and I am sooo proud of her. Her first book with us is ready for pre-order on Amazon.com! I promise to add more info in the morning

Time travel, vampires, steamy sex, and serial killers! Who could ask for more?
What happened to your deck, MM? That must have been quite a surprise. On a happier note, congrats to Georgiana!

Thanks, Joanne! My author is over the moon! I guess a strong wind finished it off. The entire thing fell in one piece.

Sorry about your deck. That’s an expensive surprise. Congrats to you and Georgia. Linda

Linda, the deck will have to wait as long as I get by with leaving it where it is. I don’t use it, anyway. Georgie is working on book 4 of her series and getting a good start on promoting!

You’ve left me with my mouth hanging open! What happened to your deck? “The Case of the Purloined Deck” by Mary Marvella?

I might borrow that, Lizzie! It was old and someone said there was a lot of heavy wind here while I was gone.

Yikes! It’s a good thing you didn’t walk out those doors!

I don’t use those doors since weather changes make them stick and allergies make me want to stay out of the forest that is my backyard!

Hi Mary,
Sorry to hear about your deck disaster. It probably fell while you were at the conference. Otherwise, you would have definitely heard the crash. And congratulations on signing Georgina Fields!!

When I was a kid a shelf with several glass figures and a fish bowl fell on the floor while the whole house slept through what must have been a horribly loud crash. Odd things happen. I hope your insurance covers the deck though!!!

There was rot, so it probably doesn’t. I need to know I can move on repairs before I let the Insurance company know I have NO deck.
