Memorial Day Observances

Memorial Day is an American holiday.

On Memorial Day, the United States Flag is raised briskly to the top of the staff, then lowered solemnly to half-mast. It remains there until noon, then the flag is raised to full-staff for the remainder of the day.

Half-mast is in remembrance of the more than one million Americans who gave their lives in service to our country.  The flag is raised to full-mast in remembrance of the living, who continue to fight for liberty and justice for all.

What are your plans and remembrances for this American holiday? Leave a comment below (with your email!) for a chance to win one of my sweet romance novellas, your choice of I Love You More, or A Snowy White Christmas.

I have had many Uncles and cousins service. Freedom is not free. The reason we have it is because someone chose to fight for it. So many people forget that. Get together this afternoon for an indoor picnic. It raining here. I enjoy your books and don’t have either of these.

My day has already started. I got up early to take my aunts to the cemetery. Veterans opens up at 8 am and there was already a line. Both their husbands are buried there. We went to breakfast. Now my husband will go pick them up later for the cookout around 2 pm. The men have been up grilling the meat. Time for family and blessing all that have served.
